Self Motivation

Now here is an interesting topic – “self motivation”, if you could self motivate your self why you be depressed in the first place, and hence not needing the “self motivation”. Kind of catch-22 if you ask me.

But none the less, here is scribble on the topic.

Self motivation does plays a vital role in achieving success and goals, and generally how you would view life events. Without or complete absence of it would push into some form of a depression, self loathing, pity or a grizzly combination of all three.

There is no greater fulfillment in life, the fulfillment of completion or closure (there is an argument there but for me at the moment they tend to be the same), it gives us the sense of achievement and arrival at a destination.

Here are few tips:

1. Be optimistic – don’t be pessimistic. To satisfy your pessimistic genes here is thought, “no matter how bad things are they can always get worse”, so count your like starts that you are just in hole and trying to get out. It could be worse the hole could be flooding with water, and on top of it you do not know how to swim. Catch my drift.

2. Avoid News – they are in the business of scaring the shorts and knickers off of you. Bad news sells the most. Worse thing is the dam thing is addictive. You get caught in the vicious cycle of news you would want more and more of it . You will starting hating the world and everyone who lives in it. You will find reasons to differentiate and discriminate, and in the end – end up hating yourself. There is a still a lot of goodness in the world and evil has not won yet.

3. Stay focused – set a goal, and when setting a goal make sure its quantifiable and it has greater reason then just money and fame. For example – my goal is to earn a million dollars so that I can donate more time volunteering at the cancer hospital or something of the sort. Just money or materialistic target would not keep you motivated to go through the pain and suffering of daily life and fight back the tsunami of demoralizing emotions. People tend to go through unbelievable hardships for a cause greater then themselves. So set a goal which even if is selfish but as an element which is greater than you.

4. Pep talk yourself. Best place to do this while driving to the office. The guy next to you may think that you have lost your brains but hey who cares. And yes who have lost your brains and you are trying to get them back.
